Scott lived his life giving back to others, especially to kids who needed mentoring and a trusted friend. He worked diligently to have a positive impact on every child, no matter what the issues.

2023 marks over $1 Million in grants distributed by SJBMF, for summer sleep-away camperships over the past 5 years, supporting at risk, underserved children, touched by gun violence.

CAMPERSHIP UPDATE

In 2023, the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund gave out $378,000 in grants, sending 262 at-risk, underserved children to summer sleep-away camp.

Scott’s dedication to his students and his ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten. This recognition is a powerful reminder of his heroism and the lasting impact he continues to have on the lives of many.⁠

Today, we honor not only the remarkable educators

Today, we honor not only the remarkable educators who shape young minds but also those like Scott Beigel, who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Scott was a 35-year-old geography teacher and cross-country coach at Stoneman Douglas High School. He was a hero in every sense. On February 14, 2018, as gunshots rang out, Scott unlocked his classroom door, providing refuge for panicked students. He was struck by a bullet while courageously closing the door behind them, saving countless lives in his final moments.⁠

Scott’s legacy lives on through the Scott J. Beigel Memorial Fund, sending at-risk children to summer camp—a place Scott always cherished.⁠

We extend our deepest sympathy to Michael’s family and friends during this difficult time.

A private service will be held at: Temple Beth El of Boca Raton on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
